Depot29 was that place I had always heard of, made plans for but somehow, at the very last minute each one of those plans fell through. After resting in my wishlist for months, Depot29 finally happened when I went to check out its recently revamped menu.

While the classics have been retained, there's plenty of new things to try out for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. There's quite a lot to choose when it comes to drinks as well- we began with a refreshing Maicuba, a mix of cucumber juice, tequila, ginger and mint. If you like less sweet and minty cocktails, this is the one for you. Monicatini came next- white rum+ginger with a chilly resting on the salted rim. The very cool, green colour is deceptive- it doesn't look as spicy as it tastes.

The Tomato and Mozzarella Salad came nice and crisp, with roasted cherry tomatoes, mozzarella shavings, pine nuts, mix leaves and a lovely honey-lemon dressing. A very good start to the meal, I  would say. Next up, crispy (and slightly oily) empanadas came with a delicious root vegetables and jalapeno stuffing and a sweet yogurt dip that went wonderfully well with it.

If you're a fan of spicy, go for the mushroom and piri piri Quesadillas served with sour cream and chipotle chilli sauce. The corn tortilla was grilled to perfection and the mushroom filling was just the right amount of mushy, loaded with cheese and generous amount of spicy piri piri sauce- a great combination in all. This one reminded how much I enjoy Mexican food and so, I went ahead and ordered a soft shell Pumpkin and Feta Cheese taco. I did not expect an additional stuffing of Mexican rice but it really made all the difference. A definite must-have!

I was quite full by this time and decided to save room for dessert. My friend however, decided on a Grilled Chicken Breast with mustard sauce and sauteed onion, with a side of sesame spinach and sweet potato mash. He hogged it all and declared it the best dish of the afternoon.

We tried two different waffles- banana and chocolate, both served with toffee sauce, chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream. My favourite were the banana waffles because of how gooey the bananas made the insides. 45 seconds of loving stares and 3 shameless drizzles of toffee sauce later, I finally dug into the supremely popular Depot29 waffles and understood what the fuss is all about. It's absolutely safe to order the chocolate waffles as they are equally good but I am just not very fond of chocolate- it's a phase- but you feel free.

They've got a bright and beautiful space with minimal decor that's pleasant and soothing. The service is excellent and the staff, super-polite. I didn't have to wait for more that 10 minutes for any dish to arrive on the table. The absolutely best part (apart from the food, of course) however, was their fabulous playlist.

Will I recommend Depot29? Foshizzle. Catch one of their live gigs, go brunching on a weekend or hang out with your work buddies- Depot29 won't disappoint.
